Nikon Cameras Coolpix AW110

The Nikon Coolpix AW110 is a rugged, weatherproof compact digital camera released in 2013, featuring built-in Wi-Fi connectivity and an enhanced depth rating compared to its predecessor. Designed for outdoor enthusiasts, it is waterproof to 59 feet (18m), shockproof, freeze-proof, and includes a 16-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor and GPS mapping.

Reviews and Performance

Image Quality: According to reviewers on DPReview, the camera produces good images for its class, with vibrant colors in well-lit conditions. However, details can appear smudged at 100% magnification even at low ISO settings, and low-light performance is limited by the relatively slow lens aperture (f/3.9).

Durability and Handling: The increased depth rating to 59 feet is a significant improvement over the AW100. While the "Action Control" feature for use with gloves is innovative, some reviewers found the standard rear control buttons to be small and "spongy", making them difficult to operate precisely.

Connectivity: The addition of built-in Wi-Fi, which allows for image transfer to smartphones and remote camera control via an app, is a major advantage over its predecessor. The GPS system is comprehensive, with features like mapping, a landmark database, and logging.

Battery Life: At an estimated 250 shots per charge (CIPA standard), battery life is considered average to below average for its class, and using the GPS and Wi-Fi features drains the battery faster. Note that the battery requires an external charger, as the camera cannot charge over USB.
